THANK YOU so much for stating this! I spent half an afternoon yesterday with a Dell Dimension 3000 trying to boot from the Dell system utility reinstallation XP OS disk and couldn't do it.
#Windows xp boot disk format install
What i have to do is change the bios to boot to floppy(disk) and then boot up with the 6 disks windows xp and then it asks for the windows xp disk, then I put in the re installation disk and everything goes like clock work after that, I find in every case I have encounted this is the way I have to go.My 8100 8200 2400 they all have those red label disks and they will not boot up ,they will not work without using the 6 boot up windows xp boot disks Back in the old days (think before Windows XP) when you wanted to create something to boot from you’d grab a floppy, format it, run the SYS program to install the boot sector and a couple of basic files into the disk and then copy whatever other files you wanted and you’d be done. Tool 6: format by right click the disk drive, pen drive or sd card. Here are also some free methods that are available for you to operate hard drive formatting or usb format without any software under Windows. Free usb/disk formatting without software.
I put it in and up comes hit F1 or f2 and then just sits there, I have checked the bios and have boot to cd checked. It supports Windows XP/Vista /2000 /7 only. Not always, I have a reinstallation disk that came with the machine (red label) And it will not boot up.
